“I started my journey with Paul Connor around the beginning of May 2018. I considered myself fairly fit, having rowed competitively for about 10 years and before that run marathons, half marathons and completed a couple of sprint triathlons, however, I wasn’t happy ☹. I have never been a confident person, but I can put on a convincing act! I am very critical of myself, I already know what you are thinking about me before you do.
I didn’t need to weigh myself because I was just FAT. I couldn’t look at myself in the mirror and clothes shopping was just a case of pick the biggest size, it will cover all the lumps and bumps! I had joined gyms in the past but given up and had toyed with the idea of getting a PT. About March I started checking out the local gyms and at the end of April I took the plunge and got in touch with Paul at MPA. It was one of the best decisions of my life.
That first meeting with Paul, I was terrified. Terrified of what he was going to think and say and then holy moly! he wanted to weigh me??!!! I needn’t have got so worked up. Paul quickly put me at ease and as embarrassed as I was at having my weight revealed, he didn’t make a big deal out of it, just told me that this was our starting point and that it was just a number.
The first couple of sessions were tough physically, but also facing the fact that I wasn’t very strong at all, I struggled with the lightest of weights. I’m sure if Paul had any hair he would have been pulling it out! He never lost his patience with me, if I was struggling with an exercise, he would think of another way for me to try. Some weeks it didn’t seem to me as though any progress was being made but Paul was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable, he kept me up beat and I wanted to do well and work hard for him, as well as me.
When I look back over the last 6 months there have been significant changes in my life, both physically and mentally. My fitness and strength are improving, and I feel more confident and not so ashamed of my body, I have even felt able to reduce my medication dosage. Paul has become someone who I class as a good friend and has become the little voice on my shoulder. I only have one regret and that is that I didn’t do this sooner 😊”

Kevin has worked as a fitness professional and personal trainer for over ten years and has gained a wealth of knowledge which he passes on to everyone he meets.
He knows what it takes to be a full time sportsman from three years at Manchester City F.C. academy and playing for numerous semi professional clubs including Witton Albion F.C.
His progressive methods of training focus on building a foundation to help his clients form strong, lean functional human bodies. Now as part owner of Movement Performance Academy he loves nothing more than to help his members on their quest for peak fitness.

“I started going to MPA just over a year ago. Being fairly new to the area, I struggled to meet new people. So I decided to kill two birds with one stone and meet new people and improve my fitness.
My first step was to get in touch with Kev, which is the best thing I ever did. He keeps me motivated, gives me advice to achieve my goals, and keeps me going back for more, even when I’m tired after work. He understands my awkward shift pattern, and makes it easier for me with effective workouts, where I’m seeing results and still having energy to last the day.

Kay-Leigh has been in the industry for 13 years in which time she has worked with GB athletes, governing bodies in sport & the NHS. She comes at the industry with both a psychological and technical outlook on training. Her interests in the physical side of training are body weight strength, stretching, flexibility and joint mobility. Her strengths in psychology are behaviour change management.

“Well what can I say. Since meeting Kay-leigh my worlds, both physical and mentally have been turned around.
I’ve spent the last few years putting a lot of energy into exercise and fitness never really understanding why I never got that definition I was after, or lost that bit of weight around my thighs.
Then into my life came Kay-leigh. I had just trapped a nerve in my back and she came bounding over to tell me with all the weight training I was doing I really should be doing something to counter act it. Before I knew it I was in my first yogiology class, loving life, taking some time for myself, and learning so many new things about my body.
I felt like a kid again struggling to do something, knowing that if I just kept going I’d get it, and the feeling would be amazing.

Jarrod is a tennis coach and a personal trainer located in Hartford. Jarrod has been a tennis coach for over 12 years and a personal trainer for over 3 years.
He has worked with children and adults of all ages and abilities with the intent to work towards specific goals to improve clients’ performance both on and off the court, whilst incorporating fun elements to ensure the best results.
After playing tennis to a county level and representing Cheshire on a number of occasions he understands the training, nutrition and dedication involved to reach your goals.
In recent years he has worked in a number of local gyms and gathered valuable knowledge and experience and is now taking it to the next level at MPA, which compliments his sporting background and passion for fitness to allow you to reach your full potential

I started training with Jarrod Wood 2 ½ years ago in a bid to drop a few dress sizes, and do a bit of exercise to help lower my blood pressure.
Being short, overweight, in my 40’s and shy, made it very difficult to get the courage to do PT. All my worries were laid to rest when I met Jarrod, he was friendly from the offset, and made me feel very comfortable.

“I have just finished a six week body transformation with James Pace at MPA Gym Northwich. I am thrilled with the results! It was hard work and it took dedication, but having a written exercise plan, meal by meal nutritional advice and daily checkins has really helped me.
I would tend to go to the gym most days, but would always do the same workouts that I had done for years, and never try to lift heavier weights.
