I enjoy working out with kettlebells because they are a compact piece of equipment that, if used correctly can have enormous benefits.
After the basic training in snatches, cleans and swings there are innumerable different exercises that can have an effect on all areas of the body.
I like the variety and the fact that it is almost a combination of aerobic exercise along with weight training techniques – so basically in a series of moves, a whole fitness regime can be condensed into one session.
After training with kettlebells I always feel stretched and satisfied that I have worked to my utmost capability. I feel toned and tightened and yet am not so worried about building up muscles in places that I don’t want them! Kettlebells give me a sense of strength and I fell that my endurance has increased since I started using them.
You have to concentrate with kettlebells so an extra benefit is the fact that your exercise regime is exclusive of all other thoughts and stresses. Sometimes on machines and when running, my mind can wander to external problems and issues. With kettlebells, full on attention is required.
I also personally like the fact that I can take kettlebells away with me – there is no excuse to miss out on training, I can find a quiet place, corner of the garden, back of the garage and privately complete a full exercise set without fuss.
Of course, it is down to the trainer who introduces the kettlebells to you – the quality of the training and the attention to detail that makes ALL the difference and I am lucky enough to have had an A1 teacher in Paul Connor, the man himself!
