“By the end of my 8 weeks of committing to training with the MPA Competitive Sports Team, with no dieting, no weighing myself, and no “trying to get skinny,” I had lost 8 pounds on the scales. Not only that, but I had also gained muscle and lost a lot fat, which the read out on my scales would not appreciate. My body was looking toned and ripped, in a way that my constant obsessions and dieting had never achieved.
Without question I recommend pushing anyone to try something new within sport. Even if sport, or joining a gym itself, is completely new. I am now 43, with 3 children, and never started exercise until my early 30’s after I had had my first two children. In the last few months I am at the peak of my fitness more than at any other time in my life. Not only did I look and feel great by the end of this rowing training process, but more importantly I grew in confidence and self-esteem which helped me so much in other aspects of my life.
Back in December still high from the competition, I promised Paul and Kevin down at MPA Gym in Northwich, that I would write this article for them, to try to share how joining their gym gave me so much more that I had ever hoped for when I walked through their door last Spring.
Maybe this Spring it will be you taking that first baby step to finally changing your mind set, and pushing yourself far and beyond your comfort zone, to be the best version of yourself that you can be.

Competing in a challenge, or a new sport, for fun or with a serious goal in mind will be one of the best things you ever do.
At MPA we believe everyone should belong to our teams, no matter what their ability. If you are looking to join in and have some fun, or maybe trying to loose weight and would like an end goal then MPA will welcome you.
If you are of a competitive nature, and would like the chance to see if you could still attain sporting greatness, then MPA Competitive Sports Team could be the place to achieve your sporting goals no matter what your starting point ability.
The MPA Competitive Sports Team is for MPA members who wish to compete in any manner of sport. Attending classes and performing gym workouts is not enough for everyone, and the Sports Teams provide a place for you to push yourself to your very limit in the quest for personal bests and victory.
We currently have a strong team focus on Kettlebell Sport, Indoor Rowing, Distance Running, Distance Road Cycling, and Cycle Racing but if you wish to bring another sport to our ambitious group then please let us know.
We are keen to explore as many challenges as possible and have gym representation across a wide area in national competition.

The MPA teams love to push themselves to the limits whilst having as much fun as possible. They will take part in everything that is suggested especially if there is mud, sweat and beer involved!
If you are looking to make more friends at the gym, or wanting a challenge to help focus your training and weight loss around, then you are a missile in the making!
All abilities are welcome to be part of the MPA teams. The only condition for joining this group is that you do your best and make sure you have a lot of fun.
